We're on Google+! Meow!
We’ve been watching the emergence of Google+ over the past several months, and we’re very excited that finally, we can have [...]Pain Management
No one, especially our staff, ever wants an animal to be in pain. A pet can be in pain both before and after surgery, as a result of trauma, or from arthritis or other illnesses. As in human medicine, we have a variety of options available to manage your pet’s pain.
At Blue Cross Animal Hospital we take a balanced approach to pain management using Non-Steroidal Antinflammatory Drugs, Fentanyl Patches, Opiods and Therapeutic Laser as needed. We would be pleased to discuss the options available for your pet.
For procedures that we know will cause pain such as surgery or dental extractions we employ ‘Pre-emptive Pain Control’. It is well documented that if pain control measures are taken before the event that causes pain occurs, the nerve fibres don’t get so wound up and pain is lessened. For this reason part of our anesthetic protocol includes drugs that control pain.
