The American Animal Hospital Association was founded in 1933 and is the only association in North America that provides accreditation to companion animal hospitals. To be accredited by AAHA, our hospital must demonstrate an exceptional level of medical care and client service, and be measured against the most rigorous standards in the veterinary field. Only 15% of animal hospitals in the United States and Canada are AAHA accredited, and we’re one of them!
During the accreditation process, we are evaluated based on AAHA’s Standards of Accreditation—an extensive list of approximately 900 standards that directly correlate to the care we are providing your pet. AAHA comprehensively evaluates a hospital to make sure it meets standards in the areas of:

In order to become an American Animal Hospital Accredited Hospital, we must prove to a third-party (AAHA) that we consistently provide the safest, highest quality care.
AAHA Accreditation provides the public with a means to easily recognize veterinary hospitals that meet the highest standards of excellence for every aspect of medical care.
By choosing an AAHA accredited hospital, a pet owner may be confident that they have chosen veterinary care that meets the highest standards. In particular, AAHA Standards of Accreditation ensure that our veterinary hospital:
Stays current. The field of veterinary medicine is always changing rapidly. AAHA Standards of Accreditation update regularly, keeping us on the leading edge of veterinary medicine, technology, and client care.
Provides timely care. The standards require hospitals to provide diagnostic services (x-ray and laboratory) so that they can quickly and accurately diagnose your pet. As well, accredited hospitals must have an on-site pharmacy, so treatment can begin immediately.
Safeguards you and your pet safe against infection. AAHA standards require our hospital to adhere to the highest standards to prevent disease transmission between pets, or from pets to people, including cleaning, infection control and sanitation procedures, and isolation wards and protocols for handling contagious pets.
Practices excellence in surgical care. AAHA standards help your pet receive quality surgical care. Although complications are always possible, the AAHA Standards of Accreditation help your pet benefit from the best surgical techniques and sterile practices.
Safeguards your pet’s health during surgery. To receive and maintain accreditation, veterinary practices must use anesthesia-monitoring equipment and have designated team members monitor the machines. This exceptional level of attention means that any change in your pet’s condition while under anesthesia is immediately noticed.
Is prepared to handle emergencies. AAHA-accredited hospitals are required to have emergency equipment and drugs readily available, stocked at all times, and in a portable container, ready for unscheduled emergencies.
Has a program of continuous learning for both staff and clients. Continuous learning and keeping skills updating for veterinarians, technicians and staff members helps us provide a positive client experience, and continually improve the level of patient care. Client education in the form of blog posts, newsletters and handouts helps clients better participate in their pets’ health care.
Provides accurate records and instructions. AAHA’s high standards require that medical records be extremely thorough and complete, ensuring that your pet’s medical history is accurate and detailed and allowing us to understand how past health issues might be impacting his or her current medical status.
