Erika holding dog patient

Erika, Animal Care Attendant

Erika was born in Cali, Colombia. She moved to Toronto at the age of five, she has lived here ever since. She chose to join the veterinary industry as she feels that animals help improve the lives of pet owners in so many ways. She wants to be able to give back to them by making a positive impact on their lives too. Erika graduated from the veterinary assisting program at Seneca College in 2020.

As an Animal Care Attendant, Erika can be found assisting our technicians and veterinarians. Fear free handling is something that is very important to Erika; she endeavors to minimize our patients’ stress levels. Her other duties consist of maintaining a safe, sanitary environment for our furry friends, providing them with snacks, meals and loads of attention and love.

“I love that I get to help improve animals’ lives every day. Blue Cross has provided a friendly
and warm environment which makes me happy to go to work!”

In Erika’s spare time, she enjoys playing sports and travelling. She used to run half-marathons and was previously a professional baker. She also dedicates a lot of her time to her senior toy poodle, Pachita, whom she adopted when Pachita was 15 years old. They are an extremely bonded pair! Her other pets are her two guinea pigs, Jaws and Lili.
