We’d like to re-introduce you to our technician, Elaine. Elaine has been with us at Blue Cross Animal Hospital for 19 years! Ten years ago she moved to Peterborough with her 2 sons, but we love her so much, she’s been commuting back part-time.
One of Elaine’s sons has a cognitive disability. He started playing special needs sports shortly after they moved. Challenger Baseball is a program that provides an opportunity for children and youth with cognitive and/or physical disabilities to enjoy the full benefits of participating in baseball at a level structured to their abilities. He has excelled and gained so much confidence since doing so that Elaine has joined the executive committee of the program.
Out of thousands of teams, her son’s team, the Peterborough Challengers has been chosen to play an exhibition game at the Little League World Series in Williamsport, Pennsylvania in August.
This is a fantastic opportunity for some amazing players, but getting the team to the tournament has a cost, especially to parents who already have extra monthly bills that go along with having a child with special needs.
If you would like to help this great bunch of kids go to the Little League World Series, you can check out their Donation Page.
