To keep our status as an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) Accredited Hospital, we must re-pass over 900 standards of veterinary excellence at regular intervals. We are thrilled to say that we have just passed our first re-certification!
Ontario regulations establish a basic standard for all animal hospitals within the province. AAHA accreditation is considered the standard for veterinary excellence. AAHA accredits hospitals in both the U.S. and Canada to the same un-varying criteria. Accreditation by AAHA means that an animal hospital has been evaluated on approximately 900 standards that directly correlate to the care we are providing your pet, rigorously reviewed by veterinary experts.
Most animal hospitals choose not to pursue the AAHA-accreditation process since it is not required by law. The accreditation process for this higher standard of care is challenging and time-consuming, and not every veterinary hospital wants to go through the lengthy process. In fact, fewer than 15% of animal hospitals in Canada and the U.S. have been accredited by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).
Here at Blue Cross Animal Hospital we love the process of re-certifying. It gives us a chance to implement standards that may have changed or increased since our last accreditation, and keeps us at the top of our game. We can see where we already succeeding, and identify areas where we could step it up and bring even better pet care and client service.
So what does AAHA Accreditation mean for you? It means you can be confident that we at Blue Cross Animal Hospital meet the the highest standards of excellence for every aspect of veterinary care.
You can read more in detail about the evaluation on our AAHA Accreditation page.
We are proud to call ourselves an AAHA Accredited veterinary hospital. We hold ourselves to a higher standard, and we are proud to share that excellence with you and your pets.
