November Means Senior Pet Month at Blue Cross Animal Hospital!
Every year during November, we focus on caring for your older pet. It’s the ideal time for your senior pet to visit the vet. The temperature is moderate, and there’s usually no snow underfoot, so it’s easy to walk in with your dog or bring in a cat carrier. Generally, in fall, our waiting room is a bit quieter than during the warmer seasons–ideal for older pets who prefer calm surroundings. You also have the peace of mind of knowing that going into the holiday season, your pet has a clean bill of health or a treatment plan for any issues.
Is Your Pet Over 7? It Could Be Time for a Checkup!
As your pet grows older it’s important for them to have regular health checkups. It might seem early, but a cat or dog can be considered to be entering the “senior years” at the age of seven. This is when your dog or cat is increasingly likely to start having a number of age-related issues. A regular complete wellness exam is the key to catching problems early.
Problems that are caught at the earliest possible stage can be managed before they get out of hand–your pet stays as healthy and comfortable as possible, and treatment is often less invasive and less costly.
Senior Pet Month Savings
During November we are celebrating Senior Pets by making it just that bit easier for you to get your older pet the care they need. From now until November 30th, you can save on our Senior Pet Blood Profile. These blood tests are the best way to catch the first signs of a large number of senior health problems, and we strongly recommend them for all pets seven and older.
As well, this year, for all pets who have a Wellness Exam with a Blood Profile we are offering two complimentary Laser Therapy treatments to pets who may benefit from laser therapy. We have had excellent results using Laser Therapy to treat arthritis. Arthritis is very a common ailment for our older patients and it limits their enjoyment of life. In both cats and dogs, the use of the laser brings pain control, decreased inflammation and improved mobility.

For Senior Pets who have a Wellness Exam or Exam with Vaccines during November, we are offering the following:
Blood Profile Savings
If your dog or cat is seven years of age or older, bring them in for a Wellness Exam or Exam with Vaccines (if they’re due), and add on the recommended Senior Pet Blood Profile. Regularly valued at $182 +HST, in November the Senior Pet Blood Profile will be only $162+HST. This is a great chance to save $20 on some strongly recommended care for your pet. The details: You must do a Wellness Exam or Wellness Exam and Vaccines at the same time as your Blood Profile, and your exam and tests must be booked between now and November 30th and paid for at the time of the appointment.
Complimentary Laser Therapy Bonus
As well, we have a Laser Therapy Bonus for pets who have a Senior Wellness Exam and Blood Profile. During your exam, your veterinarian will assess your pet to determine if they have any conditions such as arthritis, which may be helped by Laser Therapy. If your vet feels your pet may benefit, we are offering 2 complimentary trial Laser Therapy sessions. These Laser Therapy treatments are available in the afternoon and evening. The details: You must do a Wellness Exam with a Blood Profile, during which your veterinarian will determine if Laser Therapy may help your pet. Your exam must be booked between now and November 30th and paid for at the time of the appointment.
