Dr. O’Meara grew up in various towns north of Toronto, and worked and volunteered at various vet hospitals prior to applying to vet school. Her grandfather was also a veterinarian, although she didn’t learn that until she decided to go to veterinary college.
Realizing that a career in veterinary medicine would combine her love of science with her love of animals, Dr. O’Meara became a veterinarian after getting her BSc and DVM at the University of Guelph.
“I chose Blue Cross Animal Hospital for the feeling of family and people working together. I could tell that everyone cared first and foremost about the patients. I feel lucky to be able to interact with animals everyday and to form great relationships with their owners. It’s an incredible feeling to be able to help ill and injured pets through the joint efforts of the Blue Cross team and the pets’ families.”
During a day at Blue Cross Animal Hospital, she spends time in professional consultations with clients, as well as doing surgery, dentistry and medicine. When she’s not at the hospital, Dr. O’Meara cycles, runs and hikes with her family. She likes reading and cooking, and would love to travel more.
Her family includes Nuni, a rescued cat from Blue Cross Animal Hospital, and she hope to get a dog one day (a rescue, of course).
