Dr. Kathryn Arbour

Dr. Arbour was born in Scarborough and chose the veterinary profession because she has loved learning about animals for as long as she can remember. She loves that Veterinary Medicine allows her to work with both animals and people alike, and that there is always something new to learn in the field.

As a Veterinarian, Dr. Arbour spends time in surgery and appointments, ranging from new puppies and kittens to vaccines or treating ill pets. She loves that you never know what will walk in through the door. Dr. Arbour chose to work at BCAH because she loves being a part of a supportive and like-minded team. It was also an added bonus that she was able to move back home to be closer to family and friends she grew up with.

Dr. Arbour went to the beautiful University of Guelph for her undergraduate degree in Zoology and stayed there to attend the Ontario Veterinary College for her DVM. During schooling, she spent her summers working at the Ontario Science Centre and various other veterinary clinics to gain practical experience. When asked if she had any interesting stories that came up while working in the veterinary profession, she said that our jobs are the only ones where you can tell people that you’ve been bit by an owl, an ostrich, a monkey, a goat, and more!

In her spare time, Dr. Arbour enjoys going to the gym, riding her bike, reading fantasy books, and playing video games. She has yet to get a pet of her own just yet but her family recently rescued a Beagle whom she adores already. She is also a proud godparent to her friend’s Beagle and senior ginger kitty!
