Lauren was born in Toronto but grew up in Owen Sound. She attended the University of Ottawa where she graduated with a degree in both History and Cultural Anthropology. Lauren has always been passionate about working in a field where she is able to help others.
After adopting her feral FIV+ cat, Levi, she spent a lot of time with him at the vet diagnosing and treating his various health and behavioural problems. Seeing how amazing the assistants, techs, and veterinarians were, and how much they loved and cared for the animals, inspired her to enter the veterinary profession.
Lauren’s day consists of assisting the veterinarians with their appointments, surgeries, and procedures, as well as daily care of boarding animals. She also ensures that our treatment areas are kept sterile and safe. She focuses on our patients’ comfort during their time here, and that they have a fear-free experience at Blue Cross.
“I feel fortunate that I was hired at Blue Cross Animal Hospital and underwent a comprehensive training program under the supervision and help of the amazing staff here! I love BCAH because every day is different, exciting, and a learning experience. The environment is so supportive and welcoming, and the entire staff is extremely knowledgeable and helpful. We get to do such a wide variety of things here, from diagnostics to treatment, which is great for our patients but also exciting as an employee.”
Lauren currently has a cat named Levi (short for Leviosa), who she adopted from the Humane Society. She also has a kitten named Jack (short for Captain Jack Sparrow) that she adopted from one of our staff members who found a litter of kittens in her backyard! She would love to have a dog in the future! Her husband prefers Corgis, but she thinks she’d like a Mastiff or Boxer.
Lauren enjoys art, music, and live shows. In her free time, she spends her weekends going to concerts and practicing guitar, as well as hanging out with her two kitties. She loves cooking and baking, especially homemade pizza and pasta.
