Microchip identification is the most reliable way to reunite lost pets with their owners.

Microchipping is a safe way to permanently identify your pet and you as the owner in the unfortunate case that your pet is lost. Using a needle, we place a small electronic chip, imprinted with a bar code, just under the skin of your pet’s neck.

If your pet becomes lost and is transported to a shelter, the shelter will be able to scan your pet for the chip and contact you. The scanner is similar to a scanner found in the grocery store. The scanner gives us the bar code number which when reported to the microchip company is matched up with your contact information. That way your privacy is maintained.

We have had cases where injured pets have been brought in by Good Samaritans who have found them. If the animal has a chip it makes it much easier for us to let you know that we are caring for your pet.

We advise you to use this system of identification as well as a collar identification system on your pet. PLEASE NOTE Always use a break away collar on your cat. He/she may lose the collar but tags can be replaced. Your cat can’t if the collar keeps him/her from escaping danger.
