Dr. Saanya Karim
Dr. Saanya Karim grew up in Pickering, Ontario. She always knew she wanted to be a veterinarian and graduated from the Ontario Veterinary College in 2022.
She spent 2 summers as a student working at the Toronto Wildlife Center, alongside raccoons, hawks, coyotes, foxes, songbirds and many more native Ontario species. The coolest job she had while there, was to fly test bats before they were released into the wild.
Dr. Karim’s favorite part of her profession is watching the bond between animals and their humans. She loves practicing all aspects of medicine and collaborating with her team. “The BCAH team is especially caring and truly treat each patient as their own”.
No two days are the same for Dr. Karim at Blue Cross. It can range from visits with the new puppy or kitten in your family or surgery, to end of life care. She performs physical exams and is responsible for interpreting diagnostics and reporting them. Other days, she’s performing surgery. In between everything, she loves to research and learn.
She currently has a young cat named Gus, but previously had a beloved house rabbit who lived to be 12!
In her spare time, Dr. Karim is an avid reader and aims for 50 books a year! She also loves drawing for fun, when she can find the time.
